  P.B.I.S.
Focusing on rewarding the positive behavior  in our students

The focus of PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) is to provide a clear, proactive system for all expected behaviors at NorthSTAR. Through PBIS, we will work to create and maintain a productive, safe environment in which the entire school community has clear and consistent expectations and understands the acceptable behaviors while in the NorthSTAR Program.

A small number of clearly defined behavioral expectations are defined in positive simple rules.  North S.T.A.R.’s expectations are defined through the acronym ‘STAR” and are differentiated based on classroom expectations and hallway expectations.  Students are then acknowledged for demonstrating STAR expectations and rewarded with a STAR buck.  These STAR bucks can then be used to purchase items from the STAR store.
