Good News from Rochester Schools

Oaces

A new program is giving veterans the job training they need to ease back into civilian life. It's offered through the Veterans Outreach Center and its’ partner, OACES and on March 21 the initial group of veterans successfully completed a 2 week “welding boot camp”. It was the first in a series of training partnerships planned with the Veterans Outreach Center and OACES. All of the graduates received certifications from OACES, the VOC and Senator Robach. They also had an opportunity to “meet and greet” with some of our business partners to present their skill sets. It was a win-win for all involved. Employers were able to recruit quality employees and the veterans were able to talk directly to the people in charge of hiring. Our thanks go out to Dave Young of the Rochester Building and Construction Trades Council, the Veterans Outreach Center, Klein Steel, Quality Vision International, Career Start, RS Automation, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #13, the Workforce Development Institute and Senator Robach’ s office for making the night a success. Special thanks to Dan Collins for working long days to see this through.
